Frequently Asked Questions
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an alternative payment and practice model for primary care services. The focus of a DPC practice is putting the personal relationship back into patient care which includes access to your actual physician. DPC physicians offer services for a flat monthly rate instead of a traditional fee for service arrangement. DPC physicians do not file insurance claims. Instead, DPC physicians work directly with the patient instead of the insurance corporations to offer increased access to care, faster scheduling, more time with your physician, and better and more cost effective options for medications, labs, imaging studies, and more.
Is Direct Primary Care Insurance?
Direct Primary Care is not and is not intended to be “insurance.” Membership to a Direct Primary Care practice has no impact on the benefits you receive through your insurance plan.

What is Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine?
Osteopathic physicians understand that every individual expresses health and disease differently. The absence of disease does not imply the presence of health. Osteopathic physicians are trained to recognize changes in body structure that alters function and contributes to disease. Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is the application of osteopathic philosophy, structural diagnosis, and use of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) in the diagnosis and management of an individual patient. OMT is the therapeutic application of manually guided forces by an osteopathic physician to improve physiological function.
Do you accept referrals for Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment?
Yes. A patient that already has a primary care physician but desires to seek osteopathic manipulative treatment may be seen as a referral. A patient is encouraged to contact the office and relevant records (if available) related to a patient’s care will be requested from the primary care physician and/or other specialists. Dr. West works in consultation with a patient’s primary care physician in the overall care of that patient.
